Say Hello… to Sarah!

Oh my goodness y’all, do I have a wonderful blogger that you need to meet! Sarah is one of the most sincere, kind-hearted bloggers you will find! She loves her family and what seems like their many adventures! I know we are all always looking for great new lifestyle blogs to follow so definitely add her to your Bloglovin Feed! Rather than just sending you over to her blog though, we decided to do a little Q+A Sesh. So while I did the Q-ing and she did the A-ing… (BTW - #2 is hilarious so you definitely need to keep reading!)

1 // How long have you been blogging and why do you do it?

I just started blogging about three months ago. I love to write and almost always have something crazy going on. I was driving home one day and started thinking … I should document the craziness that is my life! And so here we are!

2 // You chat about your family a lot on your blog! Any funny stories to share about the kids? My kids are HYSTERICAL. I’m not just saying that because I’m their mom - they genuinely crack me up on a daily basis, so I always have a good story or two!

I was going to tell you about my youngest daughter’s imaginary friend she had when she was little… but something so extraordinary just happened. As I was trying to recall the story of “Hooky” the imaginary friend I was having a hard time remembering the details. I walked into her room to get clarification on the entire story. This is how it went down:

Me: Do you remember Hooky? You’re imaginary friend?

B: What? No? I had an imaginary friend?

Me: Yes! Hooky! We had to always set a place at dinner for him, make sure we didn’t exclude him from conversations and listened to him when he told stories.

B: MOM

Me: I can’t believe you don’t remember him. He had purple spiky hair. He had a girlfriend named “Paula.” They were both afraid of dogs.

B: MOOM!

Me: Are you sure you don’t rem…

B: MOM! I am talking to E (a boy she may or may not be in luuurve with) on speaker phone and he just heard everything you just said!!!

E: You used to have an imaginary friend??

3 // I know you love to read - I need a good book recommendation!

Sister. I love to read so much. SO MUCH. I read about a book a week. One of my favorite books I’ve read lately is One Kick by Chelsea Cain. I really really liked it. The fictional story is about a woman named Kick, who was abducted at 6 years old and subsequently escapes 6 years later. Apparently its going to be a continuing series which makes me really excited! Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight was another favorite of mine. I update all of my books on Goodreads. If anyone is interested in adding me there, I am always up for new recommendations!

4 // Chloe and Olivia want to know if you have any furbabies?

Oooh you can tell Chloe and Olivia I have a very handsome Golden Retriever named Hudson. I see a long distance puppy date in our near future!

5 // What is your most popular post to date? I did a series counting down the 12 days to Christmas. My Day 10 post was the most popular - you can check it out here!

6 // If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

I constantly overbook and over-extend myself. My superpower would be to be in two (or more) places at once! Maybe that way I could do it all with plenty of time to spare!

7 // What inspires you?

Running inspires me. I come up with my best ideas while I’m running. It clears my head but also gives me some quiet time to really think about everything going on in my life and allows me to sort of recharge.

SWS - What is Your Ideal Winter Vacation?

Gooooood Morning from the mountains!

I took yesterday off work, packed up our winter gear, left the beach and trucked it to the mountains. Since I’m off on a “mini-vacation” for the weekend with the fam - I decided today’s Say What Saturday for my sponsors would be about their ideal winter getaway.

We are spending our weekend at Massanutten, a resort just outside of Harrisonburg, VA. I went to college at James Madison University, in H’burg - so coming up here gives me that “going home” feeling. Minus the rooftops, this was basically the view I woke up to every single morning in college. Love love love!

My husband and I are here with my cousin, his wife, and their kids. As well as my sister, her boyfriend and my mom. The cousin’s clan is heading to the waterpark. My hubby and fam are all heading to the slopes. Between the fact that my ski pants still don’t fit me (hooray for being fat!) and then my terrifying skiing experience many moons ago - I really have no desire to ski ever again. Plus, I really don’t like being cold and wearing 1500 layers. Unfortunately the spa is booked for today and tomorrow - so my vacay will probably include netflix and blogging in a quiet condo. I guess that’s not really too shabby of a vacation right?

Is it okay if I use today as a shameless plug for a past post and a really fun podcast? What’s that? It’s my blog and I can do what I want? Oh right…

This week I asked all of the 2 cats sponsors about their calendars! Being a self proclaimed office-and-school-supply-junkie, I think you can learn a lot about someone based on their calendars. What do they use their calendars for? Do they have multiple calendar? Do they NOT have a calendar? Is it digital or paper?

I talked all about my calendars on monday during the Celebrate Southern Podcast! If you missed it, I highly recommend you go back and listen to that super fun and pretty informative podcast. J and I teamed up to talk all about our blogging editorial calendars: what we love, what works for us, and how to stick with them.

Personally, I use multiple paper calendars and then gCal to pull everything together. I use my Erin Condren planner for all of my weekly to-do lists. Then I use my golden Target calendar for my blog planning and notes. Like I said, gCal is the cherry on top that I use to pull everything together in one place.

SWS - What do bloggers do in Real Life?

I am often referring to my “real life” and my “blog life.” Or my “blog-friends.” Or my “blog work.” It really isn’t like Blogland is Never, Never Land or some other magical place… but I always feel that, in conversation, I need to clarify whether or not I am talking about Blog Life or Real Life.

I also love to learn what my blog-friends do for a living. It makes them even more relatable and more real to me. It can also add more depth to the friendships we form. Because let’s be real - there’s often more to us that what we see here on our blogs. Remember this post?

So to get to know some of my blog-friends even more, I asked all of the 2 cats & chloe sponsors what they do in real life… outside of Blogland.

And just in case you are wondering what I do… I do way too many things. I guess I was just born with an entrepreneurial heart. In first grade, when the teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my mom got a note home…

“When we asked Susan about what she want’s to be when she grows up, she said: Well, I know one thing, but I’m not sure what my second or third career will be.”

So here’s what I do:

I have been running my own wedding and event coordinating company for the last seven years. It’s called 29:11 Celebrations and you can check out my majorly outdated website here. Last year was the biggest and most successful year for that business.

In addition to brides, celebrations and glitter, I am a marketing consultant for several companies. I help small businesses with their social media and email marketing. I work for one large, national company where I handle all of their go-to marketing needs. All from home. In my yoga pants.

I like what I do. I get to help brides, be creative, help small businesses and dip a couple of toes into Corporate America. Which means that I can juggle my clients, schedule my hours so they almost parallel my husband’s crazy work schedule, cook paleo foods and still have time for a little fun in Blogland.
