Accessories are Key These Days: Firmoo Glasses that I Love!

by Susan

Someone recently asked me what I miss most now that I am pregnant. It’s not news to anyone that we ladies have to give up a lot when we are with child. My initial thought was immediately red wine. Followed by missing that overall “healthy” feeling. Then, due to spontaneous cravings, both were trumped with “Oh my god, it’s totally real sushi and rare tuna!”

The next morning I was getting dressed and I realized that the thing I think I miss the most now that I am pregnant, is fitting into all of my cute, fall clothes. On top of the fact that you are no longer in control of your body and you’re now larger than you’ve ever been in your entire life - it is even more difficult to feel confident when you now have a very limited wardrobe (when you’re not used to that at all). I’m currently rocking one pair of jeans and a couple pairs of leggings - along with several solid shirts, a few tanks and my go-to cardigan. Thank goodness I work from home and it really doesn’t matter what I look like most days! I don’t know how y’all do it! An entire new wardrobe for a mere nine, long months is not in our budget!

But I’ve quickly learned - it’s okay to have a few go-to solid pieces of clothing. The trick is to dress up the basic tee and cardigan with accessories. Accessories like my new pair of spectacles from Firmoo.com.

2 cats & chloe: dress up your baby bump with accessories

I have been trying to add a touch of “functional-glam” to all of my current outfits. You cannot really tell in these pictures (because my real camera is broken and because the rain wouldn’t let up enough for us to leave the front porch…) but this shirt has gold, glitter sparkles in it. Paired with a rose gold and coral necklace, gold earrings, a glitter watch and glasses that look like I’m ready to work - but have beautiful gold arms. Wait - are the sides of lenses called arms??

Whether you’re pregnant or not, if you’re looking for new glasses (to make you less blind or simply as a fashion accessory) I highly recommend Firmoo.com. This is my third or fourth pair of lenses from Firmoo. Why so many?? It’s not because they have broken… they are all still in great condition and used all the time! It is because they are inexpensive enough that I can have a few prescription pairs, not break the bank and then coordinate them appropriately with outfits.

I have the hubby believing that these glasses are merely for vision. But we all know, every little accessory counts when it comes to a completing an outfit!

The glasses I am wearing in this post are style number DBSN68048. Like I said, I really love this pair because it has the funky, nerdy look from the front with the touch of gold fanciness on the side.

Wanna learn more? You can try your own pair of Firmoo Glasses from their website! I also recommend that you check out their new arrivals page too! New frames are added daily! Also, for any 2 cats & chloe readers who haven’t tried firmoo yet, you can head over to this page for 15% off frames site wide!

And because no blog post is really complete without a selfie, photobombed by a border collie…

What accessory do you wear the most? What was your trick to accessorizing while pregnant?

Many thanks to Firmoo.com for giving me these new glasses. While they did send me new specs to review, the feelings I expressed about their company and this product were all my own.

Black & White Fall Fashions and Fun Hair

by Susan

Some days I wake up and think I’d love to be a fashion blogger. They all look so fun, put together and legit. I could do it right? I mean I love trying to put together outfits and pairing accessories with random looks. Then I realize I haven’t showered in 3+ days, I’m wearing the same yoga pants I’ve been wearing for 7+ days and I’m lucky if I’ve brushed my hair in 10+ days.

2 cats & chloe: black and white pregnant outfit

Now that I am pregnant, it has gotten even tougher to feel motivated, when nothing really fits. I am also at that in-between stage where I am obviously bigger than “Normal Suz” but I don’t think I necessarily look pregnant to strangers. I just look pudgy… maybe?

2 cats & chloe: hair extensions review

This was the first week that I have begun to embrace the belly though. I have decided that I hate the maternity jeans I bought from Target (after one wear, I feel like I’m wearing a circus tent because they are so stretched out and baggy). I spent most of last week wearing my American Eagle jeans (that I purchased shortly after I discovered I was with-child, that are a size larger than my norm) completely unbuttoned underneath my shirt. #WhichIsExactlyWhyICannotBeAFashionBlogger. I’m sure truly fashionable people don’t walk around in public with their jeans unbuttoned… or do they??

2 cats & chloe: irresistible me hair extentions review

I was recently asked to review hair extensions for Irresistible Me. At first, I thought No Way! What in the world would I know about hair extensions?! But since they claim to make you irresistible… I figured why not! Ladies - before I give you my thoughts on my new long locks, let me tell you that I never do anything crazy with my hair. I’ve never colored it. I’ve never highlighted or treated it. I only use real, natural products to wash it and then every few months I get it trimmed. That being said, when I ordered my extensions, my hair was already pretty long and thick. So I went with the longest, heaviest option they had (so it wouldn’t get lost in my real hair).

2 cats & chloe: black and white fall outfit, border collie

When they arrived I was pleased at how well the color blended with my real hair. I was also thrilled (and quite surprised) at how quick and easy these extensions were to use! I went from long hair to really long hair in a matter of 7 minutes! At first (because I had never worn extensions before) it felt weird. However after maybe 10 minutes of wearing, I didn’t even notice the slight extra weight. I think next time I will curl both my hair and the extensions a bit to help them blend better. But like I said earlier, it’s a big deal to get dressed these days. Curling the hair probably would’ve pushed this mamma-to-be over the edge.

If you want more information on Irresistible Me Hair extensions, head on over to their site! They have tons of options and their customer service was super helpful for a newbie like me!

2 cats & chloe: fall pregnancy outfit

And speaking of mamma-to-be - I know several of you have asked for a “Bump-date” picture. Well, I think my black and white Chico’s top does a decent job of hiding my unbuttoned jeans and the baby belly… but you can definitely tell I’m a bit wider in the picture above! One of these days I will give you a real update on all the pregnancy news!

Also, don’t you just love all the black and white accessories I used in this outfit? The purse, the shoes and the border collie?? Maybe I could handle a fashion post every now and then after all…

Full Disclosure: Pieces of this post were either gifted to me in exchange for this post or I was compensated by Irresistible Me for my time. But everything that share are all my own thoughts, feelings and lack of fashion sense! Cheers!

Monat + Giveaway: One bottle of shampoo changed my life.

by Susan

Okay, so I exaggerate a lot. Like, “OMG my legs hurt so bad after leg-day at the gym, that I cannot even walk.” Really, Suz? You cannot walk? If I set a piece of gluten-free, magical, no-calorie brownie sundae here in front of you, you’re saying that you couldn’t walk over to it? Yeah… I thought so.

But here’s the thing. I’m not exaggerating when I say that a bottle of shampoo (and it’s friend Mr. Conditioner) changed my life. You have all heard me rant and rave about my hair problems. I was blessed with some sort of hormonal change in my late 20’s, giving me this completely wack-a-do ‘do. Straight, sleek and flat in the front. Party, craziness, white-girl-dreads and oodles of volume in the back. I have tried over 20 different products and NOTHING has helped. Until Monat.

One of my college friends recently asked to sample a new shampoo line. She swore up and down that I would love it because of what it would do to my hair. Then she threw in the fact that it was organically-based, not tested on animals and made right here in the good ole USA. While the results ended up speaking for themselves - the fact that it is a clean and organic product is what really sparked my interest. I mean, I never really thought about what kind of crap I was putting in my hair on a daily basis… until now.

So how about the results?

2 cats & chloe: Monat Results - before and after // natural hair care // organic hair product 2 cats & chloe: Organic Monat Before and After Pictures!

Now, first of all, I really cannot believe that I was even going out in public with the back of my hair looking like the nappy mess that it was. Secondly, even my friends are experiencing amazing results!

2 cats & chloe: monat volumizing hair product resultsresults with monat // katie's hair before and after

2 cats & chloe: monat hair product review - kim

So here’s the thing. I tried it. I forced my friends to try it (to prove that I wasn’t crazy, or some sort of fluke. I mean, no one wants to fall victim to a too-good-to-be-true fade right?) And I have yet to meet anyone that this product did not help. So… I decided that I didn’t have enough to do (you know, with running multiple businesses, blogging, moving and the impending wedding season…) so why not sell this miracle product as well?!

Monat Volumizing Results - Suz

A few questions may be zooming through your mind right now… like, how long does the volume last? Girls, I am going 2-3 days with lasting volume. These pictures were taking after a full day, plus sleeping on it, plus brunch:

Five on Friday: Working from home and cute specs!

by Susan

I’ve kept it no secret that I work from home. Some days I love it. Some days I dread it. The division of home life and work life is really tough with your home life is your work life. A lot of days I am totally jealous of my friends who clock out at the office to head home, relax and sip some wine without having work stare you in the face the rest of the evening. Then there are times when I’m in the middle of a conference call with top business executives and I’m painting my nails, in my yoga pants with unbrushed hair and I think - that working from the office concept is totally nutso!

2 cats & chloe: 5 things you need to survive working from home.

So to all my friends who are pondering a life change - from the office to the home office - I wanted to share five things that help me survive working from home:

1 // You need yoga pants. Because let’s be real - even if you have to skype or facetime with people who are far, far away - unless your meeting includes a dance sesh, they probably won’t be seeing your pants. Ergo, anything with buttons, zippers, pleats, belt loops or even denim should not be worn. Staying comfy is key. Opt for the yoga pants.

2 // While having a desk is great, having a lap is even better. Especially when you work from home because you are not bound to your desk… My lap and office can be anywhere I want. Yes, the option is always there to sit at my desk. But so it my option to sit at the kitchen table, on the couch or even in my camper.

3 // Now that you are comfortable with your yoga pants, and you’re productively lounging with the laptop… you better be rocking your cute glasses. My eyes get so dry when I stare at my computer screen while wearing contacts all day. Firmoo.com reached out to me again, asking if I would share another cute pair of specs with y’all! I ended up with this super fun pair of pink and black glasses. Just because I’m working from home in comfy clothes doesn’t mean I can’t have fashionable and fun accessories!

2 cats & chloe: pink and black firmoo glasses

4 // Co-Workers are a must for anyone who works from home. Yes, the can be remote. But you need to chat with people daily. Sometimes I feel like I am stuck on my own little island. After years of working from home, it hit me that I was going days without talking. Because who was I supposed to talk to?! And then I realized that my co-workers aren’t traditional co-workers. Instead of checking in on the guy in the cubicle next to me, I will pop in on my neighbor for a quick hello and a 5-minute work-break. You may think I’m crazy, but I also see my furbabes as co-workers some days! You know… those crazy co-workers who expect you to share your lunch break with them, every.single.day.

5 // Lastly, I’m slowly realizing that moving-breaks are crucial to surviving my work days. I recently got a fitness tracker watch, only to realize that I barely walk anywhere! (Apparently walking from my bed to my desk and then back to bed at the end of the day isn’t super healthy!) I have the perk of wearing yoga pants and making my own schedule - why in the world don’t I walk around the house a bit more! So in my very near future - walking, push-ups and lunges will be done every 30-ish minutes or so. I mean, my “co-workers” would love a quick jog around the block, I’m sure!

Many thanks to Firmoo.com for sending me my new awesome specs! If you haven’t had time to check out Firmoo yet, you really should! I will never buy glasses from a traditional store ever again. This is my second pair from Firmoo.com and I’m absolutely hooked. Their glasses are all very reasonably priced and the quality has been great. I love that my new specs are inexpensive enough that I can buy several pairs and use them as daily accessories, even if I am working from home!

Do you work from home? Is there anything that you recommend when it comes to surviving? Am I a crazy person for considering my pets to be my co-workers?

NYE at the River: Comfortable with a Touch of Glitter

by Susan

Before this post starts - let me just say that I am a lifestyle blogger. Not a fashion blogger. I adore all of my fashion friends so much and I am constantly reaching out to y’alls blogs for inspiration when it comes to my wardrobe. However, when a girl needs inspiration for New Years Eve spent partying in the Middle-of-No-Where, NC… inspiration is minimal.

Here’s what I knew I wanted: comfy, warm, a touch of glam {but not too much… remember the setting… they would laugh at me if I came in wearing a LBD!} and something that I could rock leggings with when I get tired of wearing my jeans. Because let’s be real, the theme of the day is eating and drinking - elastic waist bands = winning.

And here’s what my closet threw up for me to wear:

2 cats & chloe: New Years Eve at the River 2 cats & chloe: Comfy with a touch of glitter2 cats & chloe: burgundy and glitter 2 cats & chloe: Loving my new mukluks 2 cats & chloe: glitter scarf and wallet, red sweaterDon’t you just LOVE my new boots? I’m kinda obsessed with them. And when I say “kinda obsessed” I mean #OBSESSED!

Now go fill your glass with some sparklin’ champagne, surround yourself with friends and family - and eat that last bite of chocolate. The #2catsWhole30 starts tomorrow. Cheers and Love… Happy New Year Y’all!
