V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!

May 20, 2011 by Susan Leave a Comment

Oh man, I love traveling and vacationing more than almost anything.  Who doesn’t though?  I just got a nice compliment from my dear friend Caitlyn… she is leaving for Australia on Monday (yes, I’m jealous).  Here’s how the gChat convo went:

Caitlyn:  ps do you have any traveling wardrobe advice? good clothes for a long flight?

me:  comfy.
but something you won’t feel frumpy in
because if you feel frumpy, you will feel crappy anyway
know what i mean?
comfy pants, definitely pants. i hate when i wear a skirt or capris and my legs get cold
and layers.
the air gets cold and stale on the planes
you may even want to bring a change of clothes, just to make you feel better after the LONG trip. might be a bit more refreshing
Caitlyn:  this is all super helpful!
you’re the pro :)
me:  haha
good
if i’m good at one thing in life, traveling is it. :)
Michael and I just got back from our 5 day camping trip in Charleston, South Carolina.  Let’s see if I can quickly summarize the trip for you!
We packed up the car and drove 7.5 hours to Charleston.

Our Campsite looked like this.

It was slightly roasty and humid out, but it was so wonderful.

We saw a ton of cool, southern, older buildings around downtown Charleston.

Along the battery we saw these fun houses.  And our tour guide showed us how to take the photo without getting cars in the way!

 Rainbow Row houses!

I just really like that photo.
I was SHOCKED to “run into” my b.f.f.  Best surprise ever.

Then we went to the beach and wore silly hats.

And had some delicious pina coladas. <3

Did I mention we were camping?

And that it stormed a couple nights? It was really pretty after the storm in the morning though.
We found some cool shells on our tour to Morris Island with Adventure Harbor Tours. Go visit them and tell him the girl that found the GIANT shark tooth sent you!
Then we played with the camera back at the campsite.

We saw some pretty flowers…

 …and some palm trees.
  We did some shopping.
Did a little bit more sight seeing, then headed home.

By the way, do you want a close up to the shark tooth we found?!  Check it out!
All in all, it was a WONDERFUL trip and I can’t wait for our next one!  I hope you enjoyed the pics!

Planning a Trip and Remembering London.

April 15, 2011 by Susan Leave a Comment

I LOVE to travel.  I LOVE to have a trip or two on my calendar.  I LOVE planning things, especially vacations.

Last May my b.f.f. slash favorite cousin got married in Switzerland.  This August her little brother (another favorite cousin) is getting married.  Sounds like an awesome reason to buy a pretty dress and plan a trip to Europe to me!
To make the trip even more exciting, I believe I have convinced my boyfriend to go along with me!  To make the fact that my boyfriend is going along with me even more exciting, it sounds like we might be purchasing a couple Eurail tickets and backpacking a few countries for the week prior to the wedding!  My heart leaps with joy for the possibility of being on a train, with a backpack, a boyfriend, and a fresh baguette and bottle of wine!  (Those Europeans really know how to make some delicious fresh bread, btw.)

So this morning I opened up my cabinet I saw this rarely used coffee mug (because it’s a bit too small for my keurig coffee maker).  I decided to dust it off, fill it with coffee and reminisce my 4 day weekend trip to London a couple years ago.  So on this lovely Friday morning, enjoy a few of my favorite snapshots from my quick trip across the pond back in February of ’08.

My Auntie, Me, & My Mom in London’s Eye.

JMU Benji with Big Ben(ji) in the background!

Let me introduce you to Francisco, my Roaming Gnome.  More to come from him in the future.

For the dumb American’s who don’t quite understand the backwards driving.

Kirsten showed up a day later to join us for the weekend! I heart her!!

I also heart colorful house decorations!  Check this one out!

Mind the Gap.

PS.  I just want to throw this out there, for anyone who cares… I loved London BUT… I am a wedding planner and I am more than exhausted hearing about William and Kate’s Royal Wedding.  I mean O-M-G.  We get it. They’re getting married.  But come on… it seems to be all the folks on the Today Show talk about in the mornings anymore.  Isn’t their some REAL news that we should be discussing?
