CELEBRATE SOUTHERN: How to have a full time job and a successful job

So one thing that J and I knew we wanted to ramble about for some time now (while recording and sipping wine) is how to have a full time job and a successful blog at the same time. Guys and gals - let me be straight with you on this… I feel like this episode of the Celebrate Southern Podcast is kind of rambling and all over the place. Why?? Because it’s not something that I feel like I’ve mastered quite yet!

2 cats & chloe: blogging while working full time // how to be a successful blogger while working a full time job!

In this episode we talk about the tricks we use throughout our days, as well as how tough it can be to find balance. J and I talk about how important it is for us to strategize and schedule everything, in addition to making a trillion lists.

After editing this episode, I honestly think that the root of my blogging angst comes from comparison. I follow some of the same “big bloggers” that you do… and doesn’t it just kill you at how easy they make it look?! After some thought, I guarantee you that no matter what their niche is, they are going through the same creative struggles and time blocking issues that we all go through! (J and I cannot be alone in this…)

If you are running your blog AND working a full time job (or managing your home, or all of the above!) give yourself one huge high five. You’re a rockstar.

Now, if you want to pretend we are all in the same room, sipping wine and gabbing over blogging + working a full time job, while being awesome at both, you can listen here:

You can read the notes to this episode here.

So tell me, do you have a secret? How do you balance life, work and blogging all at the same time?

Love love this. Going to listen to it when I’m not trying to hide out from my in-laws! But I do always make sure to follow a weekly schedule - Monday is life, Tuesday what I wore, etc. It keeps me on a track so I know what to do and finished!

hahaha about hiding! And yes, I think a weekly schedule is a must!

It is quite a task indeed to juggle full time job, your life overall and a blog! Kudos to the bloggers, who have made blogging their full time job! If only I were to be so lucky :)

Can’t wait to listen to this! I need my kiddos to nap because all I can hear is Doc McStuffin’s in the background overtaking my brain LOL

I definitely need to listen to this podcast. It is so hard to find time though.

It’s so hard to balance everything isn’t it?! One day we will master it all hopefully! :)

I should definitely listen to this! I don’t feel like my job is necessarily the problem.. I would have tons of time if I didn’t also have to fit in fitness, making food, cleaning, other hobbies & responsibilities, AND blogging! It’s rough when there’s so much you want to do!

I need to listen to this podcast. I don’t have a full time job but I still have such a hard time managing my time. Too many things going on at once! ~Cynthia

Going to listen to this podcast.. I still suck at scheduling anything, lol. But I have my lists coming out of my lists, lol. Between being a single mom, part time freelancer, blogger and will be starting a full-time job in 2 months. I have too much to do and not a lot of time to do it.

Am listening to the podcast right now. :) I think none of us really have it ‘mastered’. If we did, we wouldn’t be trying to balance blogging during lunch breaks and after work… we’d be traveling like free-spirits, working with brands and talking with other bloggers and building our brands full-time. 😉 For me, my balance is to blog only when I have something I really want to write beautifully about. It’s not about getting something out 3 times a week (I was killing myself when I was). It’s having highly-curated content. I may not have a huge audience, but I have a stronger brand. And that hopefully will lead to other awesome adventures down the line. :)

After a couple years of blogging, I still don’t think I’ve mastered it. I do however spend more time paying attention to my schedule. It’s easy to get tied up on a great article and miss out on snuggle time with the my kids at night. I don’t make that mistake anymore 😀
