In my past life, I would anxiously await the seasonal coffee creamers to arrive at the grocery store. Oh, and you know, those super fun collector red cups full of spiced latte frappie something-or-others from Starbucks. But then I turned to clean eating and realized exactly how much crap was in those creamers and in just about everything {except their hot tea} at Starbucks.
So I started making clean and delicious versions of these warm beverages at home. Turns out, they are even more delicious {since they are sans the syrupy fake taste}, much healthier for you, and a heck of a lot better for your shoes. Why shoes? Because this hot, delicious drink is cheaper, allowing you to buy more shoes with all that money that won’t be wasted at Starbucks. Duh.

Now there are multiple ways to make this cup of magic, deliciousness. You can put all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and melt them together, then add them to a brewed cup of joe. OR you can do it the easy way, like I did, and make it all in one easy peasey cup.
- One Cup of Your Favorite Coffee {regular or decaf}
- ¼ tsp of pure vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp of pure mint extract
- 1 TBSP of 100% cocoa
- 2 TBSP of Heavy Coconut Cream
- 6 drops of liquid stevia
- You ready for these tough instructions? Put all of the ingredients {except the coffee} into your favorite coffee mug.
- Brew coffee and pour it into the mug.
- To help blend all ingredients, stir thoroughly, or use a frother.
- If you can handle whipped cream... I would highly recommend a dollop of it on the top!
Need help finding some ingredients? Here’s what I use: Heavy Coconut Cream (less expensive in store), Pure Vanilla, Mint Extract, Liquid Stevia (less expensive in store), Pure 100% Cocoa, and my Favorite Coffee.
And no, you do not need a frother. This was actually the first time I have put mine to use. If you are looking for a decent and inexpensive frother to help blend your coffee {i’m hooked on it!} I highly recommend you check out ikea. I think I bought mine for a couple bucks. Or, you could use one of those huge, blue, never-expiring coupons that are constantly filling up your mailbox and get this one for a few dollars more.
Give it shot and let me know what you think! I enjoy blending different coffee flavors… give me some more of your favorite starbucks blends! I’m up for a good challenge!

What a great idea and MUCH healthier to make your own. I bet it is cheaper, too? This post is really making me crave a mint mocha coffee right now!!
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
Yup! It’s definitely cheaper! The only thing I had to go out and buy was the mint extract… everything else was already lurking around my kitchen. It’s really good! Let me know if you try it! 🙂
Great recipe, I love anything that is healthy! Definitely going to try this!

This sounds yummie. I never heard of coconut cream, is it like coconut milk but heavier? I need to try this, so easy! ~Cynthia
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
It’s a heavier version of coconut milk. I’ve also used regular coconut milk in my coffees, but it’s just not quite as creamy. You can usually find it in cans, in the asian food section of the grocery store 🙂

This looks amazing! 🙂 Even though I haven’t gotten into clean eating yet, I pretty much only order the green tea lemonade at starbucks now.
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
I’ve heard the green tea lemonade is so good! It’s too much sugar for me, but every now and then it sounds like a great treat! 🙂
Well, that sounds just soooo yummy! I wish I liked coffee/mocha/latte flavored things. I will just have to stick to my teas and hot chocolates! But the mint sounds so yummy!
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
You like hot chocolate right? Same kinda thing… maybe I will work on a paleo hot chocolate bevy for you…
I’m with J on this one.
It sounds amazing, but I don’t do coffee or mint. However, I do make lovely drinking for my bf and I know he would love this one! And because it’s paleo he will love it even more!
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
Well if you make it for your boyfriend, let me know what he thinks! 🙂 Thanks for stopping in dear! Cheers!
Looove this! Looks so tasty. Ugh, I don’t even want to think about what’s in the Starbucks coffee I have been drinking. Sad days.
Susan @ 2catsandchloe says
Girl! Where have you been all my life?! How’s mommy-hood?? Are you back to blogging? And yes, don’t think about what starbucks puts in those drinks… I promise, it cannot be good for you! 🙂 Miss you!
Ha ha, mommyhood is crazy! Hence the Starbucks 😉 I am in and out of blogging, but I really want to be fully back in! It’s been too long! What are you up to?? I saw a little about your health journey, how’s that going?
