Naked Burgers.

by Susan

Hello readers!  Ohhh Emmm Geeeee am I tired today.  Last night I went down to the cafe in North Carolina to volunteer my time for their crazy busy Valentine’s Day Dinner.  I would say it was a huge success, but oh my gosh, all I want to do is sleep today!

Since I am way to tired to really be creative or think of anything that is slightly humorous or fun, I decided today would be a great opportunity what I had for dinner on Monday night with you!  🙂  Nothing fancy, but it was paleo friendly!  Ready?  Okay, let’s do this!
I don’t often crave burgers.  If I am eating red meat, it’s typically a steak.  I just really have to be in the mood for a burger.  And apparently, nothing puts me more in the mood for a burger than ground beef that is about to expire!

While they were cookin’ my roomie and I emptied the dishwasher.  Do you see all those wine glasses?!  Holy cow we look like we have drinking problems!  I promise we don’t!  The two of us just laughed when we opened the dishwasher up and it was basically full of leftover food containers and wine glasses!

Since it is still quite cold outside I decided to make the burgers in the oven.  I feel as if this made them a bit more meatloaf-y, but they were still good.  I put the patties in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

I decided a slice of pepper jack cheese was a necessary addition to mine, while she kept it a bit more strict with the paleo rules.  And since cavemen don’t eat bread (and we were completely out of it) we ate our burgers bun-less!

By the way, have you eaten “Wholly Guacamole” yet?  If not, you are sooooo missing out.  Not only is it fun to say but this is the best guacamole I have ever had!  Up until recently, I was never really a fan of it.  But now, because of Wholly Guacamole, I try to find meals that are great excuses just to eat guacamole!

The finished product looked something like this… Lettuce, naked burger, pepper jack cheese, tomato slices, a few onion slices, and of course the guacamole!!

Oh yeah, and since the wine glasses were clean, we decided we might as well have a small glass with our naked burgers!  (PS.  Kirsten, do you recognize these?  Pretty sure these were stolen from your wedding reception in germany!!)

How do you like your burgers?  Any fun combinations that you like to put on or in your burger?  Or better yet, do you have any great “guacamole excuse” meals I should know of??

Haha! Yes, those wineglasses look familiar! In Australia they put a slice of beetroot in their hamburgers. It’s pretty good, you should try it once.

Okay, now THAT looks like something out of a restaurant, and it looks delish! Maybe we’ll go fancy some night for dinner and make this!
